The IceCube-Gen2 Collaboration has its origin in the IceCube Collaboration. In fact, many of its members have been working for many years in astrophysics and neutrino physics with data from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory.

However, the excitement for a new, even more ambitious project has led to the growth of this collaboration, which in IceCube-Gen2 brings together over 400 scientists from 63 institutions in 15 countries.

The Wisconsin IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center (WIPAC) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison hosts both collaborations as well as the team that supports the operations of the IceCube Neutrino Observatory.
